Golf star Tiger Woods has made a total of five appearances on Team USA at the Ryder Cup - in 1997, 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2006.

Team USA without Woods

As of the end of the 2007 PGA season, Tiger Woods tops the Ryder Cup points list, but the world number one will not be playing on the Ryder Cup USA team as he is still recovering from knee surgery. Tiger Woods has also turned down an invite to be the team's assistant coach, but will be at the event to cheer on his national team.

In Ryder Cup Matches, Tiger Woods' record stands at a winning of 11 points, at 2.20 (11). Together with Julius Boros and Phil Mickelson, who have also earned records of 11 Ryder Cup points, this makes Tiger Woods the tenth-highest American point winner.

Born in 1975 in California, Tiger Woods ranks as one of the top players of all time, with more wins on the PGA Tour and a longer time ranked as number one in the Official World Golf Rankings than any other player. Woods also ranks as one of the world's highest-paid golfers and as one of the most heavily endorsed, with backing from companies like General Motors, American Express and Accenture. In 2000, Tiger Woods took the largest endorsement of that time, when he signed a $105 million contract with Nike.

In a stellar career, Tiger Woods has clocked a total of 61 PGA Tour wins, eight amateur wins, and 22 other professional wins. Woods is currently second only to Jack Nicklaus in number of major championship wins.
