Ryder Cup Winners Since 1979

The European team celebrate with the trophy after Europe's victory over the USA at the 35th Ryder Cup Matches at the Oakland Hills Country Club on September 19, 2004 in Bloomfield Township, Michigan In 1979, the Ryder Cup Matches were opened to European golfers, with a European team replacing the previous Great Britain team. Although the US team won the 1979 tournament, its near total domination of the competition was broken as top European golfers joined the field. In the 2006 Ryder Cup, Europe took its seventh win - against the USA's total of six wins - since 1979.
