Steve Stricker was born in Edgerton, Wisconsin. As an amateur golfer, he won the Wisconsin Open in 1987. After graduating from the University of Illinois, he turned to a professional golf career in 1990. He went on to win the Wisconsin Open four more times, in 1990, 1991, 1998 and 2000. In Canadian golf, he won the 1990 Victoria Open and, in 1993, the Canadian PGA Championship.

1996 saw Stricker clinch two PGA Tour victories - the Kemper Open and the Motorola Western Open. For that year, he ranked 4th on the PGA Tour money list.

In 1998, Steve Stricker was runner-up in the PGA Championship in Redmond, Washington, with Vijay Singh winning the tournament by two strokes. 1999 was the year when he recorded his best finish of fifth place in the US Open, for which he has finished in the top 20 a total of six times.

In the 2001 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, Steve Stricker defeated Pierre Fulke 2 and 1 to earn the $1,000,000 prize.

After a bit of a lull in his career, Steve Stricker ended 2006 with a total of seven top-10 finishes and earned the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year title.

Most recently, Steve Stricker took The Barclays tournament against KJ Choi on 26 August 2007.
