US professional golfer Troy Jason Matteson was born in Rockledge, Florida, and is said to have started playing golf when he was seven years old. He is currently among the top 20 in the US Ryder Cup points list, making it possible that he'll join the US Ryder Cup players at Valhalla Golf Club in 2008, when the 37th Ryder Cup Matches are staged.

After graduating in civil engineering from the Georgia Tech, Troy Matteson turned professional in 2003.

As an individual, he won the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships in 2002. He has had two victories on the Nationwide Tour, and one PGA Tour victory - with a win in the 2006 Frys.com Open.

Troy Mattheson ended the 2007 PGA Tour season ranked 73, with total earnings of $1,282,421. His best finishes for the season included a third place in the AT&T Classic and in the John Deere Classic, and a ninth place in the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Matteson currently falls within the top 100 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
